My beauty ritual has become more simple year after year. Don’t get me wrong, I love to glam it up for an event or special dinner out, but my daily routine needs to be realistic. In the morning after taking the kids to school I give myself 10 minutes to wash, prep, and put on makeup. I start with a gentle cleanser, tone, and finish with a daytime facial oil. Daytime makeup has to be natural for me. No one wants to look at my face and see my foundation. I like a nice mineral powder foundation because it melts into my skin and gives just the right amount of coverage to even out my complexion. Mineral foundations are great because they are buildable and can provide more coverage for evening. A swipe of blush, a pop of color on my lips, and mascara….my daytime makeup look is complete and done in 5 minutes or less.
The beauty industry is becoming increasingly aware of harmful chemicals and its impact on the environment. Nature has all the beneficial ingredients our skin and hair crave so why would anyone bother with products laden with chemicals? My favorite face oil has chia seeds (Yes, they have made a splash lately in recipes and in the skincare industry!) because they are loaded with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids. Chia seeds soothe inflammation, fight signs of ageing, and keep skin radiant. Just like I want my beauty routine simple, I want the products I use for it simple too.
